Laser Body Hair Removal

One of the more common methods at removing body hair is through the use of laser hair removal. This is a type of medical procedure that uses an intenst, pulsating beam of light that will remove the unwanted hair. It works by passing the beam of light through the skin.

Underneath the skin it will target the melanin pigment in the hair. The extreme heat from the light will destroy the hair follicle at once. Just one treatment of laser body hair removal will only slow down the growth of the hair. It will not stop it completely until after several treatments of it. These treatments could take anywhere between a few months to a few years.

The common areas that people will use this procedure on include; the legs, upper lip, bikini line, and armpits. It is possible to use this to remove body hair in almost any part of the body including the back and chest.

There are several things that will determine whether or not the laser body hair removal will be successful in a few treatments or many at removing the majority of the hair. People who have dark brown to black hair and very light skin will have the most success. It will still work on people with dark skin – but it will not work for anyone with blonde, light brown, or light red hair.

  • People who have dark skin are more likely to have the skin become lightened because of the treatment.
  • Blistering and scarring is very rare
  • You may find that when the hair grows back in it is thinner and finer or that it will grow in the area adjacent to where you treated. You can fix this with another treatment.
