There are many methods at removing body hair. Most people will start off by shaving it all – but soon realize that this process is long and tedious and often has to be done on a daily basis. Many of us consider permanent body hair removal – but this can be so expensive that we have no idea how we can afford it.
Your next best choice is to practice the art of waxing. Waxing body hair is truly painful when first starting out. Your skin is sensitive and ripping out large amounts of hair in a single second is going to burn and possibly cause you to scream in agony. But your body will eventually grow used to this and you will be happy with the results.
How To Wax
- First you need to purchase the wax. The wax kit you use will cost between $10 to $20 and is fairly simple to use. It is best to get the kind that comes with wooden strips which will be used to apply the wax to the skin.
- Before you wax your legs you have to make sure that the hair is ¼” long. Two days before you are ready to wax exfoliate the area. Never do this directly before because you will run the risk of an infection.
- Apply baby powder to the area. This will help the wax to stick to your hair so that you don’t go over one area twice.
- Heat the wax by placing it for a few seconds in the microwave or place the container in warm water.
- When you are waxing you do not want to try to tackle large areas at one time. Instead work in smaller sections. Apply the wax to the skin in the direction that the hair is growing. Hold the stick at a 90 degree angle and make a smooth and thin layer.
- Immediately after the wax has been applied press the strip against it and smooth it down over the area. Lay it down in the direction of the hair growth.
- When removing it peel it off in the opposite direction that the hair is growing. Never pull it straight up because this will be much more painful. Instead keep the strip as close to the skin as you are able to manage.
- Once the strip has been removed apply a lotion that contains salicylic acid to prevent ingrown hairs from developing. Any excess wax can be removed using a body oil. Do not use hot water.
